Easter: Akpabio Barau , urge Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance

…Says Nigeria will surely overcome insecurity

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON has enjoined Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance and mutual respect, regardless of faith or ethnicity.

Akpabio gave the advice in a congratulatory message, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, urging all Christians to reflect on the values of love and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate the sacred feast of Easter.

“On behalf of my family, my constituents, the Senate, and the National Assembly, I extend my warmest Easter greetings to all Christians in Nigeria and around the world.

“As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that His message embodies.

“Let us work together to build a nation where everyone can live together in peace, harmony and prosperity.”

The Senate President, who acknowledged that Nigeria is currently facing some challenges, particularly insecurity, appealed for understanding and commitment to National and Security Consciousness.

“I want to assure Nigerians that we will overcome these difficulties through collective efforts, understanding and prayers. The president is not resting on his oars and the Armed Forces and all security agencies have been working relentlessly to tame the tide.

“I sympathise with families affected by the mindless attacks by terrorists and bandits across the country, especially the recent killings in Jos. I pray that the Almighty God will have mercy on those who lost their lives; and console the bereaved families.

“May God bless Nigeria, acquaint us with the compass of His course, help us to defeat the enemies that have declared war on our people and guide us towards a brighter future”

‎in his Easter message, Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin felicitated with Christians on the occasion of Easter, urging all Nigerians to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the transformation of the country.

‎In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged Christians to imbibe the selfless attributes displayed by Jesus Christ.

‎“As the Christian faithful celebrate Easter, it is important to remember the essence of Easter, which is the recognition of the love, sacrifice, and suffering Jesus Christ bore for Christendom,” he said.

‎He also preached that love and tolerance should prevail above violence, killings, agitations, and other divisive tendencies.

‎“In our collective efforts to progress as a nation, we must all rise above our perceived differences. Only love and tolerance will make us a great nation,” he said.

‎The Deputy President of the Senate also used the opportunity to seek the continuous prayers and support of Nigerians for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as he steers the ship of the Nigerian state towards progress and prosperity, noting that the President has shown through his policies and actions that the interest of Nigerians and the country is uppermost in his heart.

In a similar message the Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru, FCA felicitated with Christians at Easter and urged for renewed commitment to nation building.

Abiru, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions and Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum also extended warm Easter greetings to Christians in Lagos East Senatorial District and across Nigeria.

In his Easter goodwill message, Senator Abiru underscored the importance of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. He urged citizens to reflect deeply on the significance of Easter, which marks the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to embrace the enduring values of love, sacrifice, and hope.

“On this commemoration of life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us be guided by His teachings and strive to live in peace and harmony with one another, as exemplified by Christ” the Senator stated.

He further called on Nigerians across all faiths to remain steadfast in their prayers for the nation and to support ongoing efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration aimed at building a stronger and more prosperous country.

Senator Abiru noted that the Easter season presents an opportunity for renewed hope and collective resolve, encouraging citizens to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Let this Easter inspire renewed faith in our nation, strengthen our unity, and reinforce our shared commitment to building a better Nigeria. Happy Easter,” he added.

“May this Easter season renew our hope, strengthen our bond as one people, and inspire us to work together for the progress and unity of our great nation, he added.
