Suspected gunmen have attacked Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting the school principal, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official.
The incident reportedly occurred around 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while students were sitting for the ongoing NECO examination.
According to security sources who spoke with security analyst Zagazola Makama, the armed attackers stormed the school premises, creating panic among students and staff before whisking the six victims away to an unknown destination.
In response, a joint team of security personnel launched a search-and-rescue operation and commenced efforts to track down the abductors.
Sources disclosed that one of the four abducted students has since been rescued, while security operatives are intensifying efforts to secure the release of the principal, the NECO official and the remaining three students.
