Senator Monday Okpebholo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),, in the Saturday, September 21, 2024 governorship election held in Edo state has been declared winner by the Returning Officer, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta.
According to the results from 18 local government areas (LGAs) announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes to beat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 247,274 votes.
The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata finished third, with a total of 22,763 votes.
Professor Kuta, while declaring the resuls, said: “Monday Okpebholo, having fulfilled the requirements of the law and got the highest votes is the winner and is returned elected”.
