…as Abaribe commends Tinubu’s government of national unity

The Senate Wednesday confirmed the seven nominees of President Bola Tinubu for appointment as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Each of the nominees was subjected to rigorous questions by the lawmakers because each of the ministers has portfolio attachment, which enabled specific interrogation.
The confirmed ministers are; Muhammadu Dingyadi (Sokoto : Labour and Employment), Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Kano, Housing & Urban Development), Idi Maiha (Adamawa, Livestock Development), Jumoke Oduwole (Lagos Trade and Investment), and Suwaiba Ahmad (Jigawa- Minister, Education), Bianca Ojukwu (Anambra, Minister of State Foreign Affairs) and Nentawe Yilwatda, (Plateau, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction).
However during the screening of the minister for Livestock Development, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio urged the newly appointed minister, Idi Mukthar Maiha to quickly put and end to lingering farmers/herders clash across the country.
Akpabio said the issue of farmers/herders clash is a source of concern for the country because of the huge number of lives it has claimed.
“We hope all these crises will come to and end once you take over the affairs of the ministry. We also want you to look at the standard practice all over the world and apply it in the country,” he said.
Maiha speaking with journalists after his screening said the reason why herders move from round the country is in search of water and grass for their cattle especially during the six months period of dry season.
He said efforts will made towards reviving various grazing reserves in the country and making them active for productive livestock industry.
Also, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA Abia State) commended President Bola Tinubu for really reflecting political parties integration in his ‘Government of National Unity by appointing Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, a chieftain of the All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) to serve in his government.
Abaribe also commended Tinubu for attaching portfolio of his nominees to the list sent to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
The former Senate minority leader recalled that the Senate had charged the President to always attach portfolio to names for a meaningful scrutiny of nominees capability to handle offices assigned to them.
The two observations were echoed by Akpabio who also lauded President Tinubu, adding that “no president has done it and no president would have fine it except President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I wish future presidents would do so by attaching portfolio to names of nominees”.
