The Northern Senators Forum has condemned the recent violent attacks in Kwara, Katsina and Benue states, which reportedly claimed over 130 lives.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Forum, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, expressed deep condolences to the governments and people of the affected states, describing the killings as brutal and senseless.
The Forum sympathised with the families of the victims and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, noting that the incidents underscore the persistent security challenges confronting the country.
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, the Forum called on citizens to support them by promptly reporting suspicious activities. It also urged the Federal Government to step up the recruitment of security personnel as part of measures to effectively tackle insecurity.
The Forum expressed hope that the affected communities would find strength and comfort during the difficult period and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of insecurity and strengthening national stability.
