Senator Ali Ndume, (Borno South) has alleged that a significant majority of President Tinubu’s appointees hold dual citizenship, questioning their full commitment to Nigeria.
Senator Ndume who stated this in an interview with Arise TV From 7:50 presented some statistics to support his claim.
“I did my research, and I will come up with figures that almost 60 or 70% of them are half-Nigerians. Most of the President’s appointees are people with dual citizenship.”
Although he acknowledged the legality of dual citizenship, he however expressed concerns about divided loyalties: “I’m not saying it’s illegal, all I’m saying is that those types of people cannot give the country 100% because they are not 100% Nigerian”.
Ndume indicated conditional support for foreign expertise in government, stating, “I support the President getting, even if it is an expatriate, to occupy certain positions as long as it doesn’t infringe on the constitution, but what he’s doing now infringes on the constitution.”
He also criticized the performance of current appointees: “And worst of it is, so far, the majority of those given those responsibilities are not discharging their duties. I once questioned their competence, and I still stand on it.”
