The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has once again rejected the petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central, citing failure to meet constitutional requirements.
In an official statement posted on its Facebook page, INEC stated:
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69 (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
This marks the second time the electoral body has dismissed the recall attempt. Previously, INEC ruled the petition invalid due to missing essential details. Although the petitioners later made corrections, the commission has upheld its decision to reject the request.
The ruling is seen as a major setback for those pushing for Natasha’s removal, while her supporters view it as further evidence that the recall process is politically motivated.
As tensions around her Senate suspension continue to rise, this latest development adds another layer to the unfolding political drama.
