Senator Jibrin Echocho gives daughter’s hand in marriage at colourful ceremony in Abuja

Abuja, the Federal Capital City of Nigeria was agog Friday when the Senator representing Kogi East, Jibrin Isah (Echocho) gave his daughter, Fatima Isah out in marriage to dris Akanbi.

Maha Event Centre, at the heart of the FCT, venue of the traditional wedding had a live band who sang mainly in Igala language, thanking God for giving Echocho to Kogi East (Igala kingdom) as the Senator representing the district.

The live band ushered Echocho and his beautiful wife, Hajia Aishat in with standing ovation from guests and family members.

“Echocho”, literally translated man of the people or someone with large followers, like the pouring of rain, lived up to that name as guests trooped in from all walks of life.

The traditional wedding between Fatima Isah, an Igala damsel and Idris Akanbi of Ibadan on Friday December 29 showcased great harmony between two Nigerian cultures; the rich Igala and Yoruba cultures.

The marriage was a senatorial affairs as the bride and the groom both hail from distinguished lineages of Senators Jibrin Isah (a.k.a Echocho), ranking senator currently representing Kogi East Senatorial District and Soji Akanbi who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the 8th Senate.

The guests include serving and former senators, Honourable Members of House of Representatives, Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, staff of the National Assembly, etc.

Akanbi was full of joy as he celebrated the union of his firstborn, Idris, with his longtime sweetheart, Fatimah Isah.

Idris Akanbi, a UK-trained civil engineer was joined in matrimony with Fatima Isah, a chartered accountant and the lovely daughter of Echocho.

With the traditional ceremony accomplished on Friday December 29, families and friends look forward to the Nikkah and reception party on December 30, 2023 at the National Mosque, Abuja.
